Rear-view mirrors are tools that allow the driver, while seated, to directly view the area behind, to the sides, and below the vehicle. To ensure operational convenience, prevent accidents, and safeguard personal safety, regulations worldwide mandate the installation of rear-view mirrors on vehicles, and require that all such mirrors be adjustable.
Preparation for adjustment: First, adjust your seat and posture-rest your back lightly against the seat, keep your knees slightly bent, and place your hands naturally on the steering wheel; adjust the mirrors only after your seating position is set.
Left exterior mirror: The vehicle body should occupy about one-quarter of the mirror's right side; the horizon should be centered (splitting the view equally between sky and ground), and the front left door handle should appear in the bottom-right corner.
Right exterior mirror: The vehicle body should occupy about one-quarter of the mirror's left side; the horizon should be positioned one-third of the way down the mirror (with the ground occupying the lower two-thirds), and the front right door handle should appear in the bottom-left corner.
Interior rear-view mirror: The horizon should be centered, the entire rear windshield should be fully visible, and the image of the right-side rear headrest should appear at the left edge of the mirror.
